Autumn Ward creates compelling dances that combine scholarship and creativity with technical virtuosity. While her repertoire includes authentic cultural dances from the Middle East, Autumn is best known as a star of artistic belly dance. Meticulously conceived and meticulously realized, Autumn's work reflects her academic expertise and classical training across many disciplines--ethnic and Western dance, music, theater, circus, and variety entertainment.
A master teacher, Autumn brings the same level of careful attention to the classroom that she brings to the stage. Her methodology relates dance as theory, mechanics, and sensation, guiding students to understand and assimilate movement intellectually and somatically. Autumn advocates an intentional approach to dance training, reflected in her core curriculum. Her teaching empowers students with skills and information to dance precisely, avoid injury, and take ownership of their craft.
Autumn recently released her celebrated instructional DVD, "Beautiful Technique", as well as two performance DVDs in the Fantasy Bellydance series through World Dance New York.
She was a 2008 Rakkasah Spring Caravan instructor. Before coming to NYC, she was a principle dancer in Laurel Victoria Grey's esteemed "Silk Road Dance Company" and faculty member of "Joy of Motion Dance Center" in Washington DC.
